Introducing NSYS Diagnostics for Mac

Introducing NSYS Diagnostics for Mac

NSYS Diagnostics is expanding again.

The platform already helps businesses test used and refurbished smartphones, tablets, and Apple Watch. Now Mac joins the lineup with native Mac diagnostics designed specifically for Mac hardware and the realities of refurbishment and resale.

The goal is to make Mac testing easier to standardize, easier to run, and easier to scale.

Less guesswork for the operator

Macs come in many configurations. Ports, sensors, speakers, Touch Bar availability, and other hardware vary from model to model. With a generic checklist, the operator has to remember what applies to each machine and decide what is worth checking.

That is not a great process when devices are moving through a busy refurbishment operation.

NSYS Diagnostics identifies the Mac first and builds the appropriate test list automatically. The operator does not have to decide which checks to run or remember which hardware belongs to a particular model.

A Mac without a Touch Bar does not get a Touch Bar test. Available ports are identified automatically. Supported sensors are included when present.

The result is a defined process that stays consistent from one Mac to the next, regardless of who is running the session.

One workflow instead of several tools

The entire diagnostic session runs through the NSYS application.

The process starts with Mac identification and the required permissions, then moves through the relevant tests in order. Operators can return to previous checks, while unfinished tests remain visible rather than silently disappearing.

Once the session is complete, the results are recorded automatically. The workflow then leads into Apple's own Erase Assistant, so the operator can move from diagnostics to device preparation without switching to another utility.

For a business, that means fewer steps to manage and fewer opportunities for information to get lost between them.

Testing the things that affect resale

NSYS Diagnostics checks the hardware that can affect a device's condition and resale value:

Ports are identified and tested individually, including USB-A, USB-C/Thunderbolt, HDMI, Ethernet, card reader, MagSafe, and audio where available. Connection speeds can also be compared to identify a port that performs noticeably worse than the others.

Display and camera checks use full-screen color patterns to reveal issues such as backlight bleed, uneven illumination, and banding. The camera is checked through a live preview and still image.

Keyboard and trackpad testing covers key response, chatter, keyboard backlight, Touch Bar functionality where available, and trackpad interaction including multi-touch and Force Click.

Audio testing checks speakers one channel at a time, as well as the microphone and wired headphones where supported.

Sensors and Touch ID can be checked without enrolling a fingerprint, while supported ambient light, lid, and accelerometer sensors are tested through their actual response.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are checked at the hardware level rather than simply confirming that a driver is present.

These checks give the business more useful information than a simple “device works” result — they show where a Mac is healthy, where it has a fault, and what still needs attention before resale.

No pass without proof

One of the most important parts of the workflow is how NSYS handles unfinished tests.

Every check receives one of three results:

  • Passed — the test ran and confirmed that the component works.
  • Failed — the test ran and detected a fault.
  • Not completed — the test did not run to completion, so the component's condition is unknown.

If a cable is missing, an operator leaves the screen, or a session ends early, the test does not become a pass.

This may sound like a small detail, but it matters when a device changes hands. A refurbisher needs to know whether a component was tested and passed — or simply never tested at all.

No pass without proof.

That makes the diagnostic record more useful for grading, resale, returns, and internal quality control.

Easier for operators, easier to scale

NSYS Diagnostics for Mac is designed so that the operator does not need to be a Mac hardware specialist.

Each test has its own screen, instruction, and timer. The application determines the sequence and the relevant checks; the operator follows the process and performs the physical actions where needed.

That makes onboarding simpler and reduces the amount of product-specific knowledge that has to live with individual employees.

The application runs on macOS 12 Monterey and newer, natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel, with no emulation. The diagnostic tests run locally, while internet access is required for access-code verification and report delivery.

Now the interface is available in nine languages: English, Russian, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Arabic.

More devices, one growing diagnostics platform

Mac is the latest addition to NSYS Diagnostics. The platform already supports iOS and Android smartphones, tablets, and Apple Watch, and its device coverage continues to expand.

For businesses working with multiple categories of used electronics, this matters. Every additional device type usually means another diagnostic tool, another workflow, and another set of processes for operators to learn.

NSYS is taking a different approach: expanding the diagnostics platform while keeping the core idea the same — make device testing objective, transparent, and free of trade-offs between quality and speed

Mac brings that approach to a completely different hardware environment with a native application built around the device itself.

And the work does not stop with this release. The Mac test library will continue to grow as new checks are validated on real hardware.

From smartphones and smartwatches to tablets and MacBooks, NSYS Diagnostics is bringing more of your inventory into one place — and the list keeps growing.
